Introducing the Questionnaire-Free Option (For New Customers)

The following post is an announcement for Introducing the Questionnaire-Free Option (For New Customers).
Let’s be honest: not everyone loves filling out a questionnaire. If that sounds like you, I get it. Which is why we’ve implemented a new option for JobStars customers to kick off the Resume Writing process.

Over the years, I’ve learned a lot about how best to approach the Resume Writing process. For some, the idea of filling out a questionnaire is too much work. They’d rather talk it through. And, I totally understand.
Here’s what you need to know.
What the Resume Writing Process Is Really About
Hiring a Resume Writer isn’t just something you hand off and hope for the best. It’s a collaborative process between two engaged partners (you and your Resume Writer) to bring your story into focus.
Our role is to guide the strategy, shape the narrative, and write the document itself. But, your role is just as important. You bring the raw material: the experiences, achievements, and context that only you can provide.
That’s why the intake process matters so much. Whether through a questionnaire, a phone call, or both, it’s where we lay the groundwork. It’s how we learn about the work you’re proud of, the roles you’re targeting, and what makes your background unique. The more we collaborate up front, the better the final product will be.
Why I Like Using a Questionnaire
Building an ATS-friendly and visually appealing Resume is a difficult craft. The questionnaire isn’t intended to be ‘busy work’. It’s a strategic tool and framework for thinking through your own experience and goals.
I’ve found, when customers take the time to complete it up front, it tends to yield the best results. It helps clarify your story and guide the intake call more effectively. Also, sitting down to write about your career (even just in rough form) can surface achievements and insights you might not mention in conversation.
In short: the questionnaire helps us work smarter, not harder. It makes for a more productive intake call and a better final product. I’ve done this long enough to confidently say it’s still the best way to do it.
So Why Offer a ‘Questionnaire-Free’ Option?
Because, I get it. Life is busy. Job searching is stressful. Questionnaires are a lot of work.
Some people think more clearly when talking things out. Others are burned out and just want to hand things off. I respect those reasons and I don’t want the questionnaire to be an undesirable roadblock.
If filling out a questionnaire isn’t your style, that’s perfectly fine — we can still work together. There’s a simple workaround. We’ll schedule an in-depth conversation, it’ll be recorded (with your permission), and that will provide enough information for us to work with.
My Honest Recommendation
If you’re comfortable filling out the questionnaire, I still recommend it. It sets the foundation for collaboration and a strong final product. It’s also a great way to get into the right headspace for your job search.
But, I also know that everyone is different. If you’d rather skip the questionnaire altogether, just let us know, and we’ll be happy to accommodate.
However we do it, the end goal remains the same: building an ATS-friendly and visually appealing Resume that feels genuine and authentic.
In Conclusion
In conclusion, I am happy to introduce this small tweak into the Resume Writing process to make it more customer-friendly.
